The Labyrinth Ensemble

The Labyrinth Ensemble expands the core group of Canzonetta, adding vocalists and instrumentalists in playfully staged entertainments with rarely-heard music from the courts and cities of 16th- and 17th-century Europe. Tracy Cowart’s lively staging and imaginative programing by music director Richard Kolb combine to offer engaging representations of the expressive power, drama, contrasts, unblinking realism and comedy found in the arts of the Baroque and Renaissance.

Labyrinth’s past programs have included “An Evening at a Venetian Palazzo,” which posits a love affair between two serial daters, and “Secret Music,” featuring music for three sopranos including the delightfully gossipy “Noi siam tre donzellete” by Luigi Rossi.
